Great combo tour which saved us money!

I had an amazing time exploring New York on this tour! The tour was well organized and our guide Rick was amazing. I loved hearing the story of how the New York Stock Exchange started and his food tips were on point. Because of him, I tried the best dumplings in the city. Seeing New York’s skyline from the Empire State Building was the perfect way to end the day!

Saw all the main spots of New York City in just one day

This tour covered so much in just a few hours! We covered all the main spots in NYC and learned so much. I loved walking through Chinatown because its cultural vibe was incredible and Little Italy was so charming with all of its cafes. However, the highlight for me was the beautiful view from the Empire State Building. I’ve never seen anything like it. If you’re in New York, definitely check this tour out!

DESCRIPTION

Manhattan Walking Tour with Empire State Building

EXPLORE THE OLDEST PART OF MANHATTAN

Your Manhattan Walking Tour with the Empire State Building will begin in Manhattan’s oldest area - Wall Street. Here, your guide will take you through the lively streets, where you'll see the famous New York Stock Exchange, Charging Bull, and Fearless Girl statues. As you walk, your guide will explain about Wall Street's role in shaping global finance and discuss its significance in New York's growth. You’ll also stop at the 9/11 Memorial Pools, where you’ll reflect on the city’s resilience following the September 11th attacks.

WALK THROUGH VIBRANT NEIGHBORHOODS

Next, your tour will head to the historic neighborhoods of Chinatown and Little Italy. Your guide will tell you how these culturally rich areas have been home to many immigrants who helped shape the city’s diversity. You’ll hear about their stories and the rise of Five Points, a neighborhood once notorious for crime and poverty. You’ll also get to see local landmarks like City Hall and the Brooklyn Bridge from a unique perspective. On your way to the next stop, you’ll pass by the Flatiron Building. Completed in 1902, this triangular building was one of the city’s first steel-framed skyscrapers and remains a symbol of architectural innovation.

VISIT THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING

After exploring the streets, it’s time to visit Empire State Building. For over 40 years, it was the world’s tallest building at 1,454 feet (443 meters). After entering, you’ll see its iconic Art Deco lobby that will transport you back to the 1930s. Then, go up to the 86th floor and enjoy beautiful panoramic views of New York City’s unique skyline. See the Chrysler Building, Times Square, Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, and many other landmarks. On a clear day, the view can stretch across six states! If you want to go even higher, upgrade your experience and visit the 102nd floor!

Why is New York called "The Big Apple"?

New York City is known by many nicknames, such as "Concrete Jungle" and "The City That Never Sleeps", but "The Big Apple" is probably the most iconic. The term was popularized in the 1920s by sports reporter John Fitz Gerald. While in New Orleans, he overheard stable hands referring to New York’s racetracks as "the big apple" - a symbol of major racing events. Fitz Gerald liked the term and began using it in his newspaper columns. Soon after, in the 1930s, jazz musicians embraced it as well. The term’s popularity faded for a time, but it was reintroduced in the 1970s by Charles Gillett, a jazz enthusiast who knew about the term. He used it in a marketing campaign for promotional items like pins and T-shirts. This time, the nickname stuck and is still widely used today!
